Asia Argento, born in Rome to a household that comprises directors and actors pursued both professions. Sogni e bisogni, directed by Sergio Citti and starring Asia Argento when she was nine was her first film. In 1988 she had her role as the main character in Cristina Comencini's first film, Zoo (1988), as well as being one of the actors in The Church (1989), directed by Michele Soavi. Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, played her character as Nanni Moretti's little daughter. Close Friends, written and directed by Michele Placido in 1992, was the film that launched Asia's career off. From playing young girls, she shifted to play more complex and more mature roles. The film received an enthusiastic reception during the Cannes International Film Festival. Trauma (1996) as well as The Stendhal Syndrome are others she's collaborated on with her renowned father. The Phantom of the Opera is her third movie alongside her father, with the first two films being Trauma & The Stendhal Syndrome. Asia's dedication and passion for acting has also been used for the part of Giuseppe Piccioni in Condannato a nozze. Patrice Chereau was the director. Queen Margot. The actress had a role that was internationally acclaimed. Her next collaboration was with Michel Piccoli on Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion in 1995, which earned her another David di Donatello, as in addition to an award from Grolla D'oro. Asia began directing short films in 1994. Two of them were made: Prospettive In 1996, she directed a document about her father, and Abel/Asia from 1998. Both focused on the cult film director Abel Ferrara. This latter was awarded by the Rome Film Festival. Asia began directing her first feature-length film in 1999, with Scarlet Diva (2000). It was also her main actor, as well as the writer of the film's script. The film was released in May 2000 in Italy, and throughout the globe. The film was given a special prize by the Williamsburg Film Festival in Brooklyn. Anna Lou, the first daughter of the couple, was born in January 2001. The year 2002 saw Asia appear as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) and Vin Diesel was the star of Rob Cohen's action thriller The Action. Asia has also written several short stories which have been published by a number of magazines.
